Cold heart, warm hands [Peridot x human!reader]

It had been about 4 months since you found Peridot. She was among garbage, shivering in the cold and looking like a kicked puppy. So, how of the kindness of your heart, you took her to your house. It took a while, but finally she warmed up to you, even explaining gem technology to you and showing you holograms of her homeworld.

And, as much as she refuses to admit to herself, Peridot had fallen for you. That soft (h/c) hair that swayed gently in the wind, those kind (e/c) orbs that always seemed to be warm and welcoming, and last but not least, your soft (s/c) hands that, despite her denying it, felt nice when you decided to play with the green gem's triangular hair.

She knew it was wrong, that loving you was considered traitorous, and that it put both of you in danger from the Diamond Authority, so she tried distancing herself from you, eventually leaving the house one night and not returning. You were concerned, even going out and calling her name for hours on end. After a few days, you assumed she left...and you were heartbroken.

A few days later, there was a knock on your door.

"Hello?" You call sleepily, shuffling out of bed in a lazy fashion. Opening the door, you fell backwards as lime green arms wrapped around your waist and soft hair obscure your vision.

"P-Peri?!" Your only response was a relieved sigh.

"I'm sorry I left...." You smile lightly at the sound of her voice, hugging back now.

"Just promise you won't leave again."

Peridot had just bought a bouquet and some chocolates, pretty sure this was what humans did when they liked each other, right? Anyways, she shuffled back to your (f/c) house, seeing your vehicle was now there. Taking a deep breath, she prepared herself and opened the door. Inside she found you lounging on the couch, reading a book.

You looked up and smiled. "Welcome home. What's with the flowers?"

She didn't respond, face turning emerald and that made you concerned.

"Everything oka-"

You didn't finish as she dropped the gifts, strode over to you and kissed you on the lips, face still hot with embarrassment. Both of you stayed like that for a minute, too shocked by her actions to move. She pulls away, stammering excuses.

You just smile, (e/c) eyes bright with amusement and kissed her again to silence her. "Love you too, Peri."

She just sighs with relief and flops next to you, putting an arm around your shoulder and yu both stayed like that for the rest of the day.
